Don’t panic, it’s just an exercise

SOLDIERS, helicopters and military vehicles on the streets of Canberra this week are nothing to worry about.

Defence force personnel, including soldiers carrying weapons and tactical equipment, are conducting a counter-terrorism training exercise from today until Thursday.

“Local residents should not be alarmed if they notice an increased movement of vehicles, military personnel and helicopters in the Majura and Woden areas,” a Defence Force press statement says.

The Defence Force says the training exercises will take place at a range of locations with minimal impact on the public.
