Early departure…Mike Welsh
On Friday the long-running presenter announced his resignation from the station, citing a “long-running issue” with management as the reason for his departure. His final day was planned for November 15.

But today Welsh told “CityNews” he would be leaving the station immediately after this afternoon’s program, saying the move was his call.

“I thought instead of hanging around making things uncomfortable, it was the quickest thing to do rather than hanging around like a bad smell – it takes the sting out of management,” he says.

Welsh, who had worked for 2CC for 11 years, has won six Australian Commercial Radio Awards and produced a TV documentary on Talk Radio titled “All Talk.”

“CityNews” attempted to contact 2CC’s station manager for comment.
