Elderly man with dementia missing

A 76-year-old man with dementia has gone missing from Ainslie this afternoon, and police are seeking the public’s help in locating him.

The man’s name is John and he was last seen by family members around 12.45pm today, when he left to go for a walk in Ainslie.

John suffers from dementia and is unfamiliar with the area, as he comes from Western Australia.

He is 5’9” tall (175cm), with a solid build and a white beard.

He was wearing beige pants, a striped green and orange golf shirt with a green collar, a navy knitted jumper, brown leather shoes and glasses. He may also be wearing a light blue hat with a brim.

According to information given to police, John is unlikely to ask strangers for directions but if he is approached, he will be able to explain that he is lost.

Anyone with information that could help with locating John can call police on 131 444.

UPDATE: John was located safe and well just before 6pm Wednesday.
