‘Good drivers’ to be rewarded

ACT drivers with clean records will save over $30 on license fees, according to the ACT government. car

Fully licensed drivers who in the last five years have not received any traffic infringement notices or lost demerit points, and provisional drivers with a clean record when changing over to a full drivers license, will be eligible for the discount, which will come as a 20 per cent deduction from their license renewal fee.

Attorney General Simon Corbell says the initiative will see the fee reduced by almost $32 for a five year license, which he believes is an incentive for drivers to continue their clean driving record.

“Good drivers contribute to road safety and they should be encouraged and rewarded for it,” Mr Corbell says.

Drivers will begin to be rewarded from August 1.
