POLICE blocked off streets and called in the Specialist Response Group before raiding a house in Hughes on Friday night, leading to the discovery of drugs, guns and ammunition.
A 27-year-old man was also arrested at the house because he was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant in NSW.
The group of police entered the house at about 7pm with a search warrant and seized two guns, ammunition and an unspecified amount of illegal drugs.
Officers of the ACT Firearms Registry made sure the guns were safe before they were taken away.
The man will face court on November 18.
To report information about illegal weapons and drugs, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 00 or go to act.crimestoppers.com.au – information can be reported anonymously.
