HAVE you seen this bike?
Burglars made off with a black Cervelo racing bike similar to the one pictured below from a house in Red Hill over the weekend, along with jewelry and electronic items.
Police suspect one or more people broke into the house by forcing the front door open between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday evening.
“The bicycle is distinctive and purpose built for racing,” says Station Sergeant Harry Hains from the Crime Prevention unit, which should make it easier to spot than more generic stolen items.
“It’s important that the community is aware that the purchase or receipt of any item known or suspected to be stolen is a serious offence,” Sergeant Hains says. “Any offer to purchase goods suspected to be stolen should be reported immediately to ACT Police Operations on 131 444.”
Witnesses who saw anything suspicious in Red Hill on Saturday night, or may be able to assist with the investigation, can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or by going to act.crimestoppers.com.au.
