The purchase is a joint venture agreement between Toga Hospitality, who operate the Medina Apartments, and the NRMA.

The heritage listed, Art Deco style hotel will now trade under the banner of hotel chain “Travelodge,” which the NRMA has a 50 per cent share of.

Constructed during 1925-26, the Kurrajong was designed by the Commonwealth’s Chief Architect, John Smith Murdoch, who also designed Parliament House and the then Hotel Canberra (now the Park Hyatt).
