FOUR people safely got themselves out of a burning house in Nicholls at around 5am today, shortly before the fire tore through the roof of the building.
Within half an hour of the first call to emergency services at about 4.50am, the structure was well alight with the flames eating into the roof, which later collapsed from the damage.
Two ACT Fire & Rescue commanders, three fire trucks and a breathing support van attended the fire.
One of the occupants of the home in Numbat Place was taken to Calvary Hospital by intensive care paramedics, suffering from smoke inhalation.
Firefighters estimate the damage to the house at around $450,000 and have begun an investigation into the cause of the fire.
