WHEN “CITYNEWS” hears from the India Australia Association of Canberra, it’s usually to do with dance music or a cultural festival, but this week they contacted us about the arrival of a cultural phenomenon quite different from these art forms.

Ayurveda—”the science of life”—is a holistic system of healing which. is an ancient Indian practice, evolved in India some 3000-5000 years ago. Based on the secrets of ancient Indian monks it was initially accessible only to clerics and royalty.

Interest in Indian medicine as a natural therapy has grown in the West during recent years, especially as the medicines involved don’t use animal extracts, except honey. You can now find Ayurvedic products from headache tablets to toothpaste on supermarket shelves around the world.

The India Australia Association has alerted us to the “Health, Harmony Soul” expo coming up at Exhibition Park this weekend, and in particular to a display of Ayurvedic cosmetics by “Shahnaz Herbals,” described as India’s leader and world’s premier in the field of premium natural and Ayurvedic skin care products.

The brand was started by Mrs Shahnaz Husain, a descendant of the Mogul emperors, as a startup venture over 40 years ago.

Success followed and products are sold at Selfridges in London and at over 400 franchises worldwide, with international accreditation. The products are United States Food and Drugs Administration( US FDA) approved and International Standard Organisation(ISO) certified.

Shahnaz Herbals will be at Stall No. 20 between 10am to 6pm as part of the “Health, Harmony Soul” Expo, on May 24, 25 & 26 at Exhibition Park. The Shahnaz range will be launched at 10am on May 24.
