For “Desert Life,” Alice Springs  artist Sarah Brown has painted  favourite places in Central Australia. Her subjects include parts of Alice Springs, which she describes as  “well worn and well loved by locals” and remote places visited by non Indigenous people. Brown is also the CEO of Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal community controlled health service improving the lives of Pintupi people suffering from kidney disease and helping them to get home to their country. Ten percent  of the proceeds from this exhibition will go to the corporation to help set up dialysis in Kiwirrkurra, 700km west of Alice Springs.

In Patricia Wheatstone’s “South Australia: Eyre Basin from the Air,” looking down at Earth is a recurring theme. The paintings in this exhibition of places where waters have flowed or pooled, were inspired by flights over South Australia during 2011 and 2012 when flood waters from Queensland were still flowing into Lake Eyre and much of the land had enjoyed recent rain.

The “Black Screen,” helped by courtesy of the National Film and Sound Archives, includes the short films “Shit Skin”, “Flat”, “Black Talk”, “Turn Around” and  “Mimi”. In “Shit Skin”, an Indigenous grandmother and her grandson travel to Central Australia to find long-lost family and culture and the truth of Nina’s history.

Alinta Barlow is a young Aboriginal vocalist/guitarist studying music at the ANU. Born into from a family with a distinguished musical heritage, including two world-famous Australian jazz musicians, she’s said to have a  singing style reminiscent of Missy Higgins.
