Love found and love lost in new dance

Billed as “an intimate look at love and relationships through dance and physical theatre”, the work  integrates personal stories of love found and love lost paralleled with the ancient Greek tale  of Orpheus and Eurydice.

Backed by a curated residency at QL2 Theatre, Plevey and Deusien conducted interviews with people of various ages, and  used their real stories to create the script.

“It’s been a beautiful process to work with such candid, really honest and heartfelt stories from these people’s lives, says Plevey, who works in Canberra as a freelance dance artist and teacher. Her co-director Deusien comes from Bathurst, and the original music used in the show has been composed by Sydney composer Hamish Lane.

Right Behind You is the company’s first full-length touring work which began development in 2012, with mentorship from Yana Taylor through JUMP, the Australia Council’s national mentoring program for young and emerging artists. The work has already appeared at the 2high Festival at the Brisbane Powerhouse, Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre and Wirksworth Festival in the  UK.
