Man charged after ramming car into US Embassy

A QUEENSLAND man who crashed his car into the front gates of the US Embassy yesterday has been charged by police. 

About 5.55pm police found the car lodged in the gates of the embassy in Yarralumla. The man was uninjured.

As a precaution the Bomb Response Team checked the vehicle. Nothing of a suspicious nature was located.

Criminal Investigations Detectives are investigating the incident. Enquiries are continuing.

The 30-year-old man has been charged with damage premises of internationally protected person and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
