Man drowns at Uriarra Crossing

A 48-year-old man has drowned at Uriarra Crossing yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the lake area at around 5.43pm by the ACT Ambulance Service.

Bystanders pulled the man out of the water and attempted to resuscitate him prior to the arrival of paramedics, but were unsuccessful.

The man was at the East Reserve side of Uriarra Crossing with his three dogs, and was last seen in the water with them.

ACT Rangers have since taken the dogs.

The drowning appears to be accidental. Police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
