Man, woman arrested after Lyons robbery

A MAN and woman have been arrested after an aggravated robbery in Lyons on Saturday morning.

At around 11am, police received a tip-off that a man had entered the IGA Supermarket and threatened staff with a knife.

The man then fled the store with the cash register which contained a sum of money and was seen in a maroon Holden Commodore station wagon.

A short time later just after 1pm, police saw a car matching the description in Weston.

After searching the car police arrested a 50-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Red Hill.

The offenders will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday morning. The man will be charged with aggravated robbery and the woman will be charged with aiding and abetting an aggravated robbery.
