New Canberra CBD chief announced

FORMER Economic Development Directorate project manager Jane Easthope has been appointed to the role of CEO of Canberra CBD Ltd, replacing Stephen Gregory who announced his resignation from the position yesterday.

Canberra CBD Ltd Chairman, Emmanuel Notaras says Ms Easthope has had extensive dealings with Canberra CBD Ltd in the set up of the levy, and played an integral role with the organisation as Grant Secretariat up until late last year when she ceased the role.

“It is an exciting time for Jane to be joining us,” Mr Notaras says.

“Our beautification activities have built a lot of civic pride and the planning for the June 2014 financial year activities is about to commence. Jane will obviously have an integral role in mapping the direction from here.”

Mr Notaras says Ms Easthope and Mr Gregory and “had a good working relationship.”

“We now have a stable of events including the highly successful Skate In The City and Christmas Carnival In The City but we are constantly looking at other events that could also deliver retail foot traffic to the City,” he says.

“Sponsorship of events and activities also plays an important role with Canberra’s Centenary, Canberra International Film Festival and the Floriade Shuttle bus being notable examples.”
