O’Malley renters paying over $3k a month

CANBERRANS renting in O’Malley are paying up to $3,816 a month – the highest rental payments in the ACT, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The cost is the equivalent of a weekly rental rate of around $900, a massive jump from the national rental average of $411 a week.

Last year, housing rents in Canberra rose 6.4 per cent, making it the third most expensive city to rent in.

ABS data for Canberra also showed people in Red Hill have the highest incomes, Harrison had the highest fertility rate, and 80 per cent of people in Banks and Casey travel to work by car.
