Orchestra that’s always thinking big

nco

CANBERRA’S National Capital Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra dedicated to performing the major works of the symphonic repertoire.

Community-based, it has a permanent membership of around 50 players from a variety of backgrounds, including current and former members of the Canberra Youth Orchestra and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

The next NCO concert is coming up this weekend at The Q, with conductor Richard McIntyre  leading the musicians in Schubert’s Symphony No 9 “The Great”, Nino Rota’s Concerto in E Minor and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Festival Overture.  Soloist will be Kimberley Steele.

The orchestra is always looking to recruit new players and would like to hear from  proficient players of orchestral instrument,  with the suggested minimum standard for new players is 7th grade AMEB or equivalent.  They  would particularly like to hear from string players. Inquiries to  0410 608 147 or ncorchestra@yahoo.com.au
