‘Passer-by’ rescues elderly man from blaze

AN elderly man has been rescued from a blaze in his Kambah home by a passer-by.

Fire-fighters say the person noticed smoke and flames coming from the house, on Trussell Place, and gained entry through the front door.

He then crawled through the house to rescue the elderly man, eventually starting to extinguish the fire with a garden house.

Firefighters arrived shortly after to fully extinguish the fire.

Intensive care paramedics were on scene and assessed the man for smoke inhalation. Transportation to hospital was not required.

Extensive damage was caused but contained to the kitchen and hallway. Firefighters say the cause of the blaze was from cooking on the stove.
