Patients ‘angry’ over Calvary parking: Libs

CALVARY Hospital patients are “angered” at the health facility’s lack of parking and some are missing medical appointments because they can’t find a park on time, say the Canberra Liberals. clvary

Although the ACT Government has committed $1.3m for the design of a multi-storey car park for the hospital, Shadow Minister for Urban Services Alistair Coe says several patients have raised concerns about the facility’s current conditions.

“Some, who have waited months for appointments have had to cancel simply because they have struggled to find a place to park on time,” Mr Coe says.

“Some have raised concerns about safety. With a lack of sealed parking, the only option for patients and staff is to park on uneven and unsealed ground, which poses significant safety risks in wet conditions, or for those with mobility issues.

“ACT Labor has promised for nearly a year now to address the parking situation, but has obviously failed to follow through on its commitment to patients and staff.”

An ACT health spokesperson says designs for the multi-storey car park are expected to be finished by early next year, and a deal on a parcel of land with 125 potential car spaces is nearing completion to ease parking woes.
