Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Shane Rattenbury said the O’Connor site is centrally located in the open space off Fairfax Street and will provide exercise, training and socialisation opportunities for dogs and their owners.

The 1.3 hectare park will feature separate enclosures for small and big dogs, as well as access for all users, seating, a bubbler and water sources for dogs.

Mr Rattenbury said the Government will also explore the opportunities for including additional features such as basic play equipment, shelter from bad weather and a noticeboard for community events.

The construction of a small dog area is now underway in Belconnen and is expected to be completed by the end of June.

O’Connor will be the sixth off-leash dog park in the ACT, with other dog park sites located in Belconnen, Tuggeranong, Yarralumla, Casey and Forde.
