Plateless ute slews into cop car

Police-car-0574-175x175A POLICEMAN was taken to the Canberra Hospital with head injuries late this morning after a black ute with no number plates rammed into a police car in pursuit.

The injured officer was the driver. The driver of the ute was unharmed and taken into custody. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Police say that at around 11am today, two officers, in a marked police car, were on routine patrol on Deamer Crescent, Chisholm, when they noticed a black ute with no number plates. On activating their emergency lights and sirens, instead of stopping, the ute driver accelerated a short distance before losing control of  his vehicle. The ute spun around on to the wrong side of the road before the driver accelerated into the police car.

ACT Policing Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) attended the scene and are investigating the incident.

The driver of the ute will be charged with traffic offences.
