Police arrest leg-biting woman

A WOMAN arrested in Erindale yesterday bit a Woolworths employee’s leg in an effort to get away with shoplifting, police say.

An off-duty officer helped staff at the Erindale Woolworths apprehend the 29-year-old Theodore woman at about 5.45pm yesterday on suspicion that she was shoplifting.

Police say the woman bit the Woolworths employee on the calf during a struggle, and that a search of her bag found suspected stolen property.

She was arrested and charged with theft and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today where bail will be opposed.
