Primary school fires extinguished, police investigating

FIREFIGHTERS put out two small fires at Garran Primary School this afternoon.

One fire was in the school’s toilet block and another separate fire in the main building was also quickly extinguished.

An emergency call was made just after 2.30pm, and all students and staff were safely evacuated and accounted for shortly after.

Ambulance paramedics assessed five staff members for mild smoke inhalation, with none taken to hospital.

Police are now investigating the cause of the fires.
