Sundae sessions at new open air cinema

A NEW open air cinema – complete with live music, drinks and free ice cream – will hit Canberra this month. music-night-3

Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas will head to the capital for the first time from Sunday March 17 until Wednesday March 27, located in Acton Park.

New blockbusters Django Unchained, Les Misérables and Argo will feature on the big screen, as well as cult hits like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Top Gun.

Melbourne pop singer and songwriter Owl Eyes and Sydney musician Catcall will perform before the screening of Life of Pi on the opening night, with all ticket sales proceeds going to OzHarvest, Fairtrade and Mission Australia.

A range of drinks and gourmet food will be available, with free ice cream served on Sundays.

Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas Canberra runs from March 17 to March 27 at Acton Park. The site includes a fully licensed bar with a variety of food options, and screenings are daily. DJs spin sounds Monday to Friday, and the most exciting emerging local musicians play live Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available to purchase from www.openaircinemas.com.au.
