A “SUSPICIOUS” blaze has caused more than $300,000 damage to a Monash house early this morning.
Firefighters were alerted to the fire in Griffin Place just before 5am, and arrived to find the property fully engulfed in flames, with no-one inside the house.
Three fire pumpers, the breathing apparatus support crew and commander extinguished the blaze.
Firefighters have assessed the cost of damage from the fire at $300,000.
The cause has been determined as suspicious.
The scene was handed over to police for further investigation.
UPDATE, 4.50pm:
A 27-year-old Garran man has been arrested over the house fire and charged with Arson and Contravention of Order. He will face ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Thursday July 11), and police will oppose bail.
