TIDBINBILLA’S newest residents were formally named this morning.

One of the koalas.
One of the koalas.
Eight koalas – four adult koalas with their babies – were brought to the ACT from the Otway Ranges in Victoria last week, with Territory and Municipal Services directorate running a public appeal for names.

Minister Shane Rattenbury said more than 170 suggestions were received, and the four adult female koalas will be called Gulwan, Tidda, Matilda and Dorothy.

Their joeys were named Lucky, Mackenzie, Nellie and Jed.

The eight new koalas have brought Tidbinbilla’s captive koala population to ten.
