The concert, to be held in the National Arboretum amphitheatre on November 23, will include Australia’s leading Opera singer Yvonne Kenny and Opera Australia’s soprano Emma Matthews and tenor Rosario La Spina.

Minister for Arts Joy Burch officially launched the event today, and said the National Arboretum was a wonderful venue for the concert which will take full advantage of the sweeping views of Lake Burley Griffin, the city and beyond.

“Combining singers of this calibre with a venue such as the National Arboretum is a sure-fire winner,” Ms Burch said.

“This is the third Voices in the Forest and each year is a magical experience.”

Ms Burch also praised the enormous contribution made by concerts to the life of Canberra and the opportunities they presented for the community to engage with the arts.

“As part of the musical performances held for the Centenary Celebrations, it will be joyous display of the fine singing, proving that Canberra really is the city of music.

“I congratulate the Village Building Company for its vision in creating these concerts that offer excellent music in a spectacular setting to an enthusiastic audiences.

“It was fantastic that some 4,400 Canberrans supported this wonderful event in 2012, and I encourage everyone to do the same this year.”
