TWO of Canberra’s most brilliant musical sons, violinist Kristian Winther and pianist Daniel de Borah, will perform on July 7 at 3pm at the Wesley Music Centre.
Their program will be made up of Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in G major, K.301, Prokofiev’s Sonata No.2 for Violin and Piano in D major, Op.94a and Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major, Op.47 (“Kreutzer”).
De Borah was 3rd Prize Winner at the Sydney International Piano Competition (2004) and the Tbilisi International Piano Competition (2001) and last year won the Australian National Piano Award. He has appeared with many leading orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras. After leaving Canberra he Daniel studied at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the St Petersburg Conservatorium and the Royal Academy of Music, London
Winther is now the first violinist of the Australian String Quartet. As a soloist he has appeared with the Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and has also appeared as Concertmaster of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in Europe and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and as Leader/Director of ACO2.
