Woman arrested after ‘furious’ pursuit

POLICE have arrested a 25-year-old Rivett woman after a pursuit last night.

Around 7.20pm the woman failed to stop for police, initiating a pursuit through Weston, towards the rural areas of Cotter Dam, reaching speeds of 115km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The car turned onto a road under construction and came to a stop.

The car then reversed into the marked police car behind it causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Police arrested the woman and took her to Woden Station where she refused to provide a breath sample for analysis.

The woman was arrested and charged with several traffic offences including driving unlicensed, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and furious and reckless driving.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
