Woman dead after crash

AN elderly woman has been killed in a two-car collision in Weston Creek this afternoon.

A man driving a black Subaru Impreza was travelling in a southerly direction along Streeton Drive at around 1.45pm and an elderly woman driving a silver Hyundai Getz was turning right onto Streeton Drive from Namatjira Drive when the cars collided.

ACT Ambulance officers attended the collision but could not revive the woman and she died at the scene.

The 33-year-old man driving the Subaru Impreza was taken to The Canberra Hospital with minor injuries.

The intersection of Streeton Drive and Namatjira Drive is closed and ACT Policing is asking members of the public to avoid the area during their commute home.

ACT Policing is asking anyone who witnessed the collision and is yet to speak to police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or viawww.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
