WORK has officially begun on a new pathway from Civic to Parliament House that will cost the Commonwealth and ACT Governments $200,000.
Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, joined Federal Minister for Regional Australia, Local Government and Territories, Catherine King, in a ceremony just before midday to launch the new pathway.
According to Mr Rattenbury, the $200,000 project will result in “footpath improvements” and the installation of 13 “interpretive signs”.
It was partly paid for with a $100,000 “gift” from the Commonwealth, given to the ACT in honour of its centennial year.
The 3.4 kilometre guided pathway will connect Parliament House to the Jolimont Centre on Northbourne Avenue.
