Christmas-in-the-City-0015-500x332CHRISTMAS in Canberra was all about camels and carols when Christmas Carnival in the City kicked off in Garema Place, with young crowds enjoying rock climbing, bungee runs, trampolines, bumper boats and water balls.

CHRISTMAS spirit was well and truly in the air in this dazzling Gungahlin home, belonging to the Bazyar family, which included 210,000 lights.

THIRTY-year-old public servant Chris Burritt spoke with “CityNews” about his passion for Christmas. Each year he dresses as Santa and decks out his Pearce home with 15 Christmas trees, more than 100,000 lights and 1.5 km of electrical wiring.

THOMAS Mukoya, a Nairobi based Reuters photographer and an award winning photojournalist, was in town to promote an exhibition reflecting on the 2011 Horn of Africa Crisis, where widespread famine saw around 300,000 desperate Somali refugees flee to camps in Kenya and Ethiopia in search of assistance.
