police

ACT Policing has seized a vehicle and a small amount of illicit drugs after a driver failed to stop the car as directed in Gordon during the early hours of Wednesday morning (December 17).

About 1.50am, a police patrol member saw a white Holden Commodore station wagon travelling at speed on Woodcock Drive, Gordon. Police activated emergency lights and siren, however the driver failed to stop and accelerated away from police on Clare Dennis Avenue and throughout the suburb of Gordon.

A short time later, the white Holden proceeded through the intersection of Knoke Close and McGilvray Close and side-swiped a blue Holden Astra.

The vehicle then came to a stop a short distance from the collision and five people fled the vehicle on foot. Police apprehended two of the occupants, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male. The 16-year-old was identified as the driver of the vehicle.

Police then searched the vehicle and located a small amount of illicit drugs including a substance suspected to be methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) and cannabis. Police seized the illicit drugs and vehicle.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information may be provided anonymously.
