A rally for Palestine in Civic this Saturday

THE Palestine Action Group Canberra have sent through details of a rally they are holding this Saturday.

A public protest in solidarity with Palestine has been organised for this Saturday, August 2, at 1pm in Petrie Plaza, Canberra.

Over 1000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military in the Gaza strip, with over 80 percent of the dead babies and children.

The Israeli Defence Forces have not discriminated in bombing hospitals, UN-run schools and refuges, beaches and even playgrounds. “The Gaza strip has a population of 1.8 million living on a small stretch of land 360 square kilometres – less than half the size of Canberra but with more than four times the population, they have nowhere to run and hide” said Diana Abdel-Rahman, the event organiser.

“We are witnessing war crimes as whole neighbourhoods like Shaja’eyah and Beit Hanoun are bombed to rubble and snipers target anyone trying to retrieve their loved ones, yet there is a deadly silence from our leaders” said Diana Abdel-Rahman.

The Palestine Action Group in Canberra are calling for an end to the invasion, and end to the bombing. They are also calling for the Australian Government to make informed decisions based on facts on the ground and to not let politics weigh in while innocent people continue to die.
