Alleged Ainslie burglar brought to book

police

A 51-year-old Ainslie man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, July 2) following his arrest yesterday afternoon.

About 1.45pm yesterday, police were on patrol in Narrabundah when they conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a burgundy Hyundai Coupe. Police were speaking with the driver when he accelerated away.

A short pursuit ensued with police catching the driver after he fled on foot near Hely Street, Griffith. He was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with dangerous driving.

Police will also allege the man committed a burglary in Farrer about 10.45am on Sunday, June 8. The owners returned home after attending church with the 78-year-old woman finding a man in her home. The man fled through a window with a number of items belonging to the owners.

He is expected to be charged with burglary and theft at court today.
