police

ACT Policing arrested an 18-year-old Rivett man following an aggravated robbery in Rivett yesterday afternoon (June 18).

About 4.30pm, a man entered the Rivett Newsagency on Rivett Place and approached the staff member at the register. The man produced a knife and demanded cash. The staff member complied and the man fled the store on foot with a sum of cash.

The incident was immediately reported and police attended and searched the area.

About 4.55pm, a man was located by Woden Patrol members at the Duffy shops and conveyed to Woden Police Station.

The 18-year-old man was subsequently conveyed to the ACT Watch House and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. One charge was in relation to the Rivett Newsagency robbery and the second was in relation to the robbery of a taxi driver in Fisher on June 14.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
