AFTER months of silence on the burlesque front, Canberra has three glittery shows on the same night. Coming to The Abbey on July 26 – and produced by Sarina del Fuego and Lola LaBelle – are two separate shows, “Burlesque Idol” at 6.30pm and “Noir Revue” at 10pm. Bookings to theabbey.com.au

BROOCHES for blokes? Bilk Gallery’s latest exhibit, “Bro..och”, is hell-bent on “banishing the long-held stigma of the brooch” with brooches by Elisabeth Holder, Catherine Truman, Helen Aitken-Kohen, Sue Lorraine, Phoebe Porter, Kath Inglis, Cinnamon Lee, Jill Hermans, Nellie Peoples, Eugenie Keefer Bell, Mio Kuhnen – and a few blokes. BANDLEADER Geoff Grey tells us 900 people turned up to the last free concert at the High Court, so it might be best to get there early on Sunday, July 20, when Therese Knight, Carmel McDonell and Amanda MacKenzie of Gracenotes perform, followed by mandolin ensemble COZMO. WESLEY Music Centre has the distinguished Filipino-American pianist Dr Jovanni-Rey V. de Pedro, performing works by Argentine master Alberto Ginastera, 12.40pm-1.20pm, on Wednesday, July 23.
