“WOMEN Together: Conflict, Courage and Hope” is an exhibition of 37 photos by Kenyan photographer Thomas Mukoya staged by UNHCR at Nishi Gallery, NewActon, until October 5. It shows how the UN Refugee Agency and its partners help women rebuild their lives in often remote and dangerous locations.

FURTHER to last week’s news about the 2014 Stencil Art Prize, we are happy to report that among the finalists are Canberrans “Byrd” from Kaleen and Angus Comyns from Narrabundah. Byrd’s unusual entry is stencilled on to a child’s denim jacket in 15 colours.

MEA culpa: it was Geoffrey Borny, not Ian Croker, who played the psychiatrist Dr Dysart in the last Canberra production of “Equus,” now revived by Canberra Rep.

SENATOR Kate Lundy will launch Canberra Botanical’s Floriade-time exhibition at 6pm, on October 2, at M16 Artspace, Griffith. Artists from Tasmania, NSW and Victoria and the Canberra region will be exhibiting in the show that runs until October 19, 10am to 5pm daily. There’s a Judges’ Prize of $1000 for an outstanding artwork.

BRAIDWOOD Regional Arts Group will hold its spring exhibition, “Homage to Wood”, at the Braidwood Community Arts Centre until Sunday, October 12, 10am-3pm, Friday to Monday. Artisan talk by architect-turned boat builder, Antony Harvey, at 2 pm on Monday, October 6.

IN “Voices from Heaven” the Llewellyn Choir, conducted by Rowan Harvey-Martin with accompanist Anthony Smith, will perform works by English composers influenced by their experiences in World War I. At the High Court of Australia, 1pm, Sunday, October 5. Free event.
