Attempted hoodie mugging in the Nicholls shops car park

police

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident in the car park at the Nicholls shops last night (Tuesday, June 3), in which a man was threatened by an offender with a weapon.

About 7.05pm a 29-year-old man was putting groceries in the car on Paisley Street when he was approached by an offender, who threatened to stab him if he did not hand over his wallet.

The man fell into the car and as the offender came towards him, the 29-year-old kicked the offender with force, causing the offender to stumble and then flee. The man heard a second voice calling to the offender to “hurry up” and the offender fled in the direction of Gold Creek Primary School.

The offender is described as approximately 6’ tall (183cm), with a medium build and a deep, Australian accent. He was wearing a grey ‘hoodie’ jumper and black track suit pants with orange writing down the side.

While no weapon was sighted the man received minor injuries to his hand, possibly from a knife or syringe.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
