Cabbie gets knife to his throat

A TAXI driver was attacked and robbed in Garran early this morning (Saturday, December 27).

Police afp cops-0021The driver picked up two men outside a Garran home at around 4.45am. One man sat in the front of the cab and pushed the gear stick into the park position. His accomplice, in the rear, held a knife to the driver’s neck. The driver handed over cash before both offenders left along Robson Street.

The front-seat assailant is described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, with a medium build, and about 178cm (5’10”) tall. He was wearing a black jacket, red beanie, blue jeans, and light pink gloves while holding a red-handled hammer.

The rear passenger is described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, around 30 years of age with a medium build, and about 178cm (5’10″) tall. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants and holding a black knife about 15 centimetres in length.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information that could assist police call  1800 333000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
