THE Daily Mail has ongoing coverage of the remarkable row surrounding Canberra’s Secretary of the Department of Parliamentary Services Carol Mills and her attempted appointment to be Clerk of the House of Commons in the United Kingdom.
The highly respected former speaker of the commons Baroness Betty Boothroyd has now weighed into the fray attacking Ms Mills qualifications for the job.
“I’m very sorry for this lady, Miss Mills, because she is totally out of her depth, she has no experience, she has no knowledge of the constitutional role of a parliamentary clerk.”
Apparently the Queen’s formal approval for the appointment will be sought in the next few days.
