Canberra’s illicit firearms chopped up by a plasma torch

ACT Policing has released video of illegal guns being destroyed in the wake of the Illicit Firearms Rewards Campaign.

Chief Police Officer for the ACT, Rudi Lammers was joined by Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Simon Corbell for the ceremony.

The six-month illicit firearms campaign “resulted in the seizure of 25 operational firearms, 11 replica firearms and approximately 3500 rounds of assorted ammunition,” Simon said.

“The campaign also led to the seizure of several other prohibited weapons including knives, nun-chucks, electrical incapacitates, throwing knives and knuckle dusters. Other seizures included cannabis, methylamphetamine, steroids, laptops, tools and a stolen motor vehicle. Some 12 people will face the ACT Magistrates Court on firearm offences.”

Simon is urging anyone with information regarding illicit firearms to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
