Chief Minister kicks medical marijuana to the feds

katy

KATY Gallagher has thrown the subject of medical marijuana to the untender mercies of the Abbott Government.

In a letter to a constituent the Chief Minister writes she has referred the matter:

I believe a national approach is required and as such, I have written to the Federal Minister for Health Minister Dutton, to request that the Commonwealth Government takes the lead on developing a national approach on medical cannabis. I have suggested that Minister Dutton look at the possibility of a clinical trial and consider also the option of a national summit which would bring together Australian chief health officers and key stakeholders to identify an approach to this issue.

In addition, I plan to place medical cannabis on the agenda of the Council of Australian Governments Health Council and I have asked the ACT Health Director-General to raise it through the Australian Health Minister’s Advisory Council.
