The Christmas lights go up and up and up on Petrie Plaza

AS the lights go up in Civic’s Petrie Plaza for a world record display attempt we here at “CityNews” have been marvelling at the scope of the works.

SIDS and Kids ACT CEO Nathalie Maconachie tells us she’s been stunned by the scale the project has grown to with businesses donating their equipment and services.

She estimates in the order of $900,000 of in-kind support has been forthcoming with 20 electricians beavering away on site.

“I wouldn’t have believed it myself” she said.

Your correspondent has been taking a picture every day of the construction effort for the last two weeks which you can enjoy in the video above.

The display is going live on 28 November.
