Come play with art. New residencies available

ONE of the new players in the community arts game in Canberra is the Playing Field Studio, active around the Childers Street precinct for some time, but bursting into action a couple of years ago with the unveiling of its new studio, right next to Canberra Dance Theatre on Barry Drive.

The organisation has four artistic residencies up for grabs in 2014 and applications are now open.

You’ll need to be able to fit in with the Playing Field Studios’ schedule, which is, for Residencies 1 and 2, July 7-20, and for Residencies 3  and 4, September 29 to October 12. The residencies offer unlimited access to a studio space for seven days, with a budget of up to $500 for materials and equipment.

They’re looking primarily for Canberra-based individuals or community groups who want to explore or develop work using film, music, performing arts, photography, visual art, digital media or art therapies.

Playing Field Studio 2014 Community Arts Residency Program, submissions close at 5:00 pm on Friday, May 16. Applications to playingfieldstudio@gmail.com or call 0402 597 959 for an application form and more information.
