THE Management Council of CONTACT Canberra (formerly the Citizens Advice Bureau, they only changed the name in June) and Board of Governance of Volunteering ACT have announced that their organisations will merge to form one organisation, Volunteering and Contact ACT, from February 2015.

A combined Board has been established, comprised of representatives from CONTACT Canberra and Volunteering ACT. The inaugural Chair of the combined Board will be Mat Franklin, current President of the Management Council of CONTACT Canberra; the Deputy Chair of the combined Board will be Jane Hayden, current President of the Board of Governance of Volunteering ACT.

“We were very pleased to receive support for the merger from our respective Members at recent formal meetings”, said Mat.

“We are looking forward to working together as one organisation to achieve clear and defined benefits for our clients and staff, sponsors and funding bodies and the community in general.”

Also announced is the appointment of Maureen Cane, current CEO of Volunteering ACT, as interim CEO of the combined organisation from February 2015. Liz Howarth, current CEO of CONTACT Canberra, will continue to lead her organisation until that time and then pursue other opportunities.
