Crikey tips Mrs Fluffy for the Senate

BACK in September we were intrigued to learn that Mr Fluffy campaigner Brianna Heseltine was considering putting her hand up for Senator Lundy’s very safe seat as a Senator for the ACT.

Last night we learned that Senator Lundy was indeed resigning.

This lunchtime crikey.com.au have word that Brianna is indeed in the running.

Lundy says she won’t be anointing a successor to her safe Senate seat, but tongues are already wagging in Canberra that it could go to one of the party’s newest recruits. Brianna Heseltine has been making headlines in Canberra this year as the founder of the Mr Fluffy Owners and Residents Action Group, which was set up to advocate for Canberrans whose houses were found to have high amounts of asbestos (built by the unfortunately named company Mr Fluffy). The ACT government has since committed to buy back and bulldoze around 1000 affected homes. Heseltine joined the ALP in September on the quiet. While it has been rumoured that she would run for the ALP in the 2016 ACT elections, we hear from locals that she is a strong candidate for Lundy’s seat. We called Heseltine this morning but did not hear back before deadline.

It’s hard to see the new member beating out Katy Gallagher or Jon Stanhope (were they to seriously run for it), but dark horses can make it through the field in the ACT.

  1. This is such a conflict of interest! How can fluffy owners feel like they are being represented fairly and without prejudice?? Brianna you need to STEP DOWN from FORAG!!!!!!!!

  2. Nice way for ACT Labor to get her to shut up, after their dodgy offer to Mr Fluffy homeowners. Everyone has their price indeed. Lololol. Well played, Andrew Barr. *slow clap*

  3. So what. A community volunteer worked out she was smarter and more decent than the politicians who covered up a stinking mess for decades. Hope she starts her own party. She’d have the numbers.
