Crowds protest ACT investment in fossil fuel

anti fossil fuel rally in Civic SquareCROWDS have gathered with their placards outside the Legislative Assembly to protest against the Territory’s investments in the fossil fuel industry.

More than 20 groups combined for the protest, calling on Treasurer Andrew Barr to stop investing in fossil fuel and coal seam gas companies.

“Canberrans are proud that our government is a leader on renewable energy,” said Josh Creaser, spokesperson from 350.org, which is coordinating the Fossil Free ACT campaign.

“It makes no sense to keep investing in the damaging industries we’re trying to move away from–especially when you look at the long-term financial risks”
