Fadden shed fire

FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a fire in a garden shed on Maughan Crescent, Fadden.

ACT Fire & Rescue has two fire pumpers on scene as well as the Breathing Apparatus Van.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics have treated two patients for smoke inhalation and will take them to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Update and Correction Two female patients were assessed by the ACT Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation and only one female patient, aged in her 20’s will be taken to hospital.

Crews were alerted following an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call by the resident at 3.08pm.

Garden shed size was an estimated five feet x five feet and has been destroyed.

The shed did contain a pool pump. Fire cause appears to be from an electrical fault from the pump. No pool chemicals were involved in the fire.

ACT Fire & Rescue with assistance from an ACTEW electrical safety officer has confirmed the fire started from an overloaded power board.

ACT Fire & Rescue would like to remind the community, “Keep it neat and it won’t overheat”.
