The faithful rally to protest cuts to the ABC

THE ABC’s true believers gathered on Northbourne this morning to protest the Abbott Government’s planned $254 million cuts to the national broadcaster.

Tony Abbott was there in efigy (sadly not put to the torch while your correspondent was in attendance), passing cars tooted in a desultory fashion (but did not stop and get out to join the rally), Member for Fraser Andrew Leigh gave a deeply nerdy speech made up of the names of ABC shows, photos of Daleks were clutched tight (forget that Doctor Who will be produced even if the ABC ceases to exist altogether)

Whilst the crowd was healthy considering the time and that the exact targets of the cuts are unknown, it has to be acknowledged that if employees of the ABC and their friends and family were excluded it would have been a sparse affair.

That said what was it the Prime Minister said to considerable fanfair the night before the election?

Seems straightforward enough.
